WOMAN'S FLY FISHING GETAWAY $275.00 per person + tax and service charge
July 24 - 26, 2009
The Glen, in cooperation with Dianne Matott of Elk Hair Fly Fishing, is offering a woman’s exclusive weekend getaway. In the camaraderie of other woman anglers, learn, enjoy and share your love of fly-fishing.
The Glen’s 160 acre once private estate is one of the original fishing camps in Pittsburg. Owned and operated for the past 43 years by Betty Falton. The Glen is located a mile down a secluded dirt road on the shore of the First Connecticut Lake. This creates the perfect setting for a relaxing getaway to enjoy nature and experience the sport of fly fishing. The specialized care offered by the full staff tends to all your needs, and includes maid service, a full breakfast menu, and traditional New England home-cooked dinner. Meals are served family style in our dining room, with a generous box lunch to enjoy about the grounds or along side the waters edge.
Participants should plan to bring their own. A limited number of rods will be available for use so please call ahead to ensure availability. We will also be limiting space to ensure proper instruction. Please call early to make your reservation.
FRIDAY
The event will begin Friday with check-in and settle in to your accommodations followed by dinner in the dining room, the evening can be rounded off with a drive up “Moose Alley” to enjoy the areas abundant wildlife.
SATURDAY
Will begin with a hardy breakfast followed by the fly fishing program which is designed primarily for beginner fly-fishers, the program will cover the basics of equipment, fly casting, stream ecology, knot tying, safety and how to find those “hot spots” along New Hampshire’s rivers and lakes. The day’s bag lunch will be provided to enjoy on the grounds. The day will end with a question and review period. This will leave some time for independent exploration of the area before and after dinner.
SUNDAY
Will begin after breakfast with a review and final casting perfecting before putting your skills to the test fishing from the shores of the lake at The Glen. We will round out the workshop with an overview just before lunch and departures after lunch.
